About My Books

Hello ragamuffin diva friends,

Many have you have gotten email from Amazon saying they are unable to fulfill your order for Death, Deceit, and Some Smooth Jazz, and you want to know where you can get that second book. Unfortunately, a lot has been cookin' over here, and I couldn't let you in on it yet. I already told you I'm no longer with NavPress, but I hadn't made the transition to my new "house" yet. Well, I've got some news!

Drumroll please...

Lovies, the big news is, I've signed with Howard Books/Simon and Schuster! Yepper! The ink ain't even dry the deal is so new. I done got a seven book deal y'all, including the one you've been waiting for, my spiritual memoir, which for now we'll say will be called Ragamuffin Diva.

Howard/Simon and Schuster is going to re-release the Amanda Bell Brown Mysteries. You can look for Murder, Mayhem, and a Fine Man in February of 2008, followed by Death, Deceit, and Some Smooth Jazz in April of 2008. That, my dear ones, is when you can get the second book. It'll be available everywhere!!! I'll keep you posted on the third, Saints, Suspicions, and a Ticking Clock, and maybe even a few more!

Just to clarify, Death, Deceit, and Some Smooth Jazz was scheduled to release in January 2007 (or December 2006, depending on where you were looking). It never released at all, despite what it looked like. Only a few Advanced Reader Copies went out for book reviews, which, in my humble opinion, made matters even more confusing. Death, Deceit, and Some Smooth Jazz will release for the first time at Amanda Bell Brown's new home at Howard Books/Simon and Schuster in April 2008.

Not only is Amanda Bell Brown is moving, she's gotten a little "work" done. We've doctored her birth records a bit and now she's thirty-five. Wish I could be so fortunate! But trust me, she still the same angst-filled, crazy Bell you know and love. All the gang is going, too. Especially Jazz! You know he's going girls. What would we do without all that Jazz? Will they ever get together?

Ah, we'll see.

Also, stay tuned young and young at heart folks. The Exorsistah, a YA series about a teenaged exorcist, is coming in a special collabo between Howard and Pocket Books. Look for Emme Vaughn, demon butt-kicker in diva boots. Y'all are gonna love her! The Exorsistah releases in July of 2008. And if you aren't good and sick of me by now...

Don't forget March 2008 brings with the spring Zora and Nicky: A Novel in Black and White. I'm writing it right now, and it's full of surprises. I think you'll like it. I really do. It's about the way we live, love, and do church in this post-modern, post-denomination, post-whatever else you'd like to add here world, and how we do it in black and white.

Now all these dates can change in the wacky world of publishing. If they do, I'll letcha know.

That's it. I'm so grateful that I can write books for you, and I'm honored that you are kind enough to buy and read them. I pray I don't disappoint you, and if I have, forgive me.

May the blessings of God rain, rain, rain on you.

Love under the mercy,
