Happy 2007!

Here's a prayer from St. Patrick. Happy New Year, lovies!

God bless me to this year
Never vouchsafed to me before.
It is to bless your own presence
that you have given me this moment, O Lord.

Bless to me my eye
And everything it shall see
Bless to me my neighbor
May my neighbor be a blessing to me.

Bless to me my household
and all my dear ones
Bless to me my work and all that belongs
to your provision.

Give to me a clean heart
That I may not need to hide from you
one moment of this new year.

Thanks for coming here and sharing, both feasts of joy, and the bread of sorrows. I love ya!

Mair

Oh, Mair, you are a truly precious person. I haven't been following you that much on your blog but you remind me a lot of my aunt who has learned so many poems, hymns and bible verses that her telephone calls from Germany are full of them. Unfortunately, sometimes it's just too much to absorb--especially if it's two hours of that non stop.

But you just give us one or two pertinent poems to illustrate what you mean. I'll certainly carry both you and your family as well as your friend and hers in my heart, thoughts and prayers. He's given you the grace to accept the hard lessons you've had to learn. Maybe I've just never asked for it but I'm asking now.

On Friday I finally got your book and noticed that you have another one coming out soon. I'll do what Angela Benson asked readers to do before her book "The Amen Sisters" came out: to pray for those who would be reading it; for the Holy Spirit to prepare hearts to receive it.

At the moment the tyranny of the library is working at me. Angela has also chosen a book with which to start the year: Rick Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life". That may come in by the end of this week. Do you know the book? I heard about for the first time when Angela blogged about it on Christmas Eve when he was interviewed on Meet the Press.

May God's light shine on you as we enter this new year. I hope Lumumba is feeling better both physically and mentally. Prayer is the best medicine as well as a mother's unconditional love.

Happy New Year. This is a wonderful prayer. Does it not suggest that perhaps St. Patrick was married?
